How the CQE-WC-00900's 9-Stage Filtration System works
Stage 1: Sediment filter cartridge removes 99.99% of microbiological cysts, cryptosporidium and giardia
Stage 2: Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) cartridge adsorbs a wide variety of organic contaminants such as 99.9% of chlorine as well as chemicals linked to cancer such as THMs, benzine, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), PCBs, MTBEs and hundreds of other chemical present in most water supplies that contribute to foul taste and odor.
Stage 3: Ultrafiltration (UF) membrane removes colloids, proteins, bacteria, viruses, parasites, protozoa and pyrogens (e.g. gram-negative bacterial endotoxins) and other molecules larger than .01 micron plus most other common water contaminants. UF technology is integral to the production of high-purity water.
Stage 4: One-micron* filter pads remove suspended particles such as silt, sediment, Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts, sand, rust, dirt and other undissolved particulate.
Stages 5 & 6: KDF filters instantaneously and almost inexhaustibly oxidize chlorine through a high-purity alloy bed of blended copper and zinc.
Stage 7: Harmful bacteria such as E. coli, Fecal coli form, Salmonella, Streptococcus, Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts and sediment are removed through ceramic balls.
Stage 8: An additional GAC bed further removes remaining organic contaminants as in Stage 2.
Stage 9: An additional one-micron filtration pad removes additional undesirable particles resulting in a near total elimination of a wide variety of contaminants.
* one micron equals 1/25,000th of an inch
